The first and foremost tack that PHL took upon its shoulders was to develop National Guidelines. Nearly 100 leading Physicians, Surgeons, Gynecologists and basic scientists were involved in a historic meeting to deliberate in various aspects of Hypertension National Guidelines. These were made public in 1998. Along with a comprehensive document algorithms for the benefit of Family physicians for both adults and pediatric hypertensives were made and distributed.
 
Next the League established the regional chapters called local chapters.
